PERSONAL.—Captain T. Richards has assumed command of the Apanui, vice Captain E. H. Goertz. PERSIAN PRINCE WITH PHOSPHATES.—Henderson and Macfarlane have been advised that the steamer Persian Prince sailed from Nauru Island on June 30 with a full cargo of phosphates for discharge at Auckland and Wanganui. She is expected at this port on July 10. BEARPORT FOR NEW ZEALAND. —With geenral cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Brisbane the American steamer Bearport is to leave Los Angeles to-day. She is expected to arrive here about July 27, and Henderson and Macfarlane will be the local agents. WEST NIVARIA TO LOAD.— Due at Dunedin to-day from Lvttelton, Henderson and Macfarlane advise that the American steamer West Nivaria will leave early next week for New Plymouth to land the balance of her Pacific Coast cargo. She will later proceed to Wellington to loaa for Pacific Coast ports. TOFUA AT APIA—The Union Company advises that the Island steamer Tofua arrived at Apia (Samoa) last rh i il U ay ’ and leaves to-day for Suva and Auckland. She is expected to clear next Thursday, and is due here on Monday, July 11. TONGARIRO REPORTED.— The Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Tongariro is reported to have cleared Colon last Wednesday in continuation of her voyage from Wellington to London. NORFOLK AT BOSTON.—The -b ederal Line steamer Norfolk, which sailed from Auckland on May 28 for New York, Boston, London, Avonmouth, Glasgow and Liverpool, is reported to have reached Boston last Wednesday. MATATUA SAILS WEDNESDAY. -In continuation of her voyage from Liverpool, L. D. Nathan and Companv advises that the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Matatua will leave Auckland noon on Wednesday for Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. MAM ARTS PROGRAMME.—Now at Oamaru loading, the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Mamari will later fill up at Timaru, New Plymouth and Wellington and is scheduled to clear the latter port on July 14 for London, via Montevideo and Teneriffe. REMUERA FOR HOME.—The N.Z. Shipping Company advises that the liner Remuera will leave Lyttelton on Tuesday for Picton and Auckland to complete her loading. She is. due here Sunday and is timetabled to sail finally from Auckland on July 16 for Southampton and London via Panama. PORT DUNEDIN’S ITINERARY.— The C. and D. motor-ship Port Dunedin will leave Auckland on Wednesday for Napier to complete her discharge of London cargo and to commence her loading for her return voyage. She will later proceed to Wellington, thence New Plymouth and back to Auckland to fill up, and is expec_ed to clear this port finally about the end of July for Genoa, Marseilles and London. NEW YORK LOADING.—The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company have been advised of the projected sailing from New York of the C. and D. Line’s steamer Port Curtis for Auckland, Wellington, Lvttelton, Dunedin, Napier, and New Plymouth. She is scheduled to leave New \oik about the middle of September. MAIMYO FROM NEW YORK.—The C. and D. Line’s chartered steamer Maimyo arrived at Auckland last ev ’® x |“ ing from New York and berthed this morning at Queen’s Wharf to commence the discharge of the local portion of her cargo. Leaving New York on May 26, the vessel arrived at Newport News the next day and after bunkering there sailed for Panama on May 28. Fair weather prevailed all the way to Colon, where the Maimyo arrived on June 4. Transit through the canal was granted and the vessel cleared Balboa the next day. TJi ~ after ensued a race across the Pacific between the Maimyo and the Sha\N, Savill and Albion steamer Matatua. Although the latter left Panama two days after the C. and D. Line steamer, she reached Auckland yesterday, 15 hours ahead and the Maimyo. The steamer experienced average weather across the Pacific, with strong westerly breezes at intervals after passing Pitcairn Island. Yesterday morning she encountered strong easterly winds and rough seas, but the weather was not serious enough to delay her appreciably. The Maimyo carries a general cargo from the United States, which consists mainly of case oil, motor-cars, agricultural machinery and lubricating oil. Captain G. C. Smith is in command of the vessel, and has associated with him the following officers: Chief, W. G. Davies; second, Mr. J. Owen; third, Mr. H. M. Drummond; fourth, Mr. H.
