JOAN OUTMANOEUVRED

HELEN WILLS’S SUPREMACY By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 1.30 p.m. LONDON, Thurs. At Wimbledon Miss Fry was a disappointment, and Miss Helen Wills outmanoeuvred her, simply pounding forehand drives into an empty court. Although Tilden’s defeat meant an all-French final, it did not detract fronuinterest in the Borotra-Lacoste match. There were five deuces in the first game. Borotra invariably was superior in net play, and inferior on the base-line, nevertheless he overcame this by more rapid advances to the net. Borotra was in his true form in the second set, giving a brilliant exhibition, leaping right and left to bring off surprising interceptions of Lacoste’s drives. Lacoste kept his opponent on the base-line in the third set, the change proving effective. He also secured the next set with the greatest ease, but on resumption a slashing net attack gave Borotra the set and match.—A. and N.Z.
