NO PAY-OUT FOR “KID DELANEY”

CANCELLATION OF BOXER’S LICENCE IS RECOMMENDED Arising out of the circumstances of the “Delaney”-Hatton fight staged last Monday, when “Kid Delaney” was knocked out in the first minute of the first round, the Northern Boxing Association resolved yesterday to withhold the loser’s share of the purse. Mr. E. A. Craig, president of the association, presided over the meeting, which was taken in committee. There was a full attendance of the executive. N.B.A. NOT SATISFIED The official statement issued read as 1 follows: “We are satisfied that Ross and Delaney are one and the same individual, but we are not satisfied that Delaney put up his best display. We are also agreed that he has not shown the frankness required during the investigation, nor has he shown fairness to the Northern Boxing Association or the public. His statement that lie had advised us by letter on more than one occasion that he was not a top-notcher is quite untrue; and

is not borne out by his correspondence: in fact, it was rather to the contrary.” HIS LICENCE It was further resolved that the action of the president in holding the loser’s share of the purse be confirmed I and that a full statement of the case be sent to the New Zealand Boxing Council with a recommendation that “Delaney’s” licence be cancelled. If the council uphold the action of the association, it is proposed to donate the loser’s share of the purse to the Jubilee Institute of the Blind.
