Rainfall in Cambridge.—The Cambridge rainfall for June totalled 4.66 inches, making 24.44 inches for the half-year, compared with 24.24 inches the correspondning month last year.
Back to the Country.—Charged at the Police Court this morning with being idle and disorderly, Ettie O’Toole, aged 39, was ordered to come up for sentence within 12 months on condition that she went back to the country.
Popular Teacher Retires.—Miss pjggott, headmistress of the Goodwood school, is retiring after more than 32 years’ faithful service. At a gathering in the school she was presented by Mr. R. Wattam, chairman of the school committee, with an eiderdown quilt. Miss* Piggott also received a presentation from the Cambridge Croquet Club.
Maori Injured by Grab. —A Maori labourer, Mr. J. Mano, had his left hand severely injured through a loaded grab, weighing over two tons, dropping on it yesterday. He was employed by Messrs. J. J. Craig, Limited, in unloading sand at Craig's Wharf. PowerHouse Lane, at the time of the accident. Mr. Mano, who resides at 63 Grey Street, is a single man of 30. He was admitted to the Auckland Hospital.
