MERRITT distinguished himself in the match between New Zealand and the Edinburgh Clubs by taking five wickets for 22. The home team made 199. Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Wednesday, New Zealand cricketers to-day commenced a match at Edinburgh against the Edinburgh cricket clubs. The home side won the toss, and batted first. Merritt bowled exceedingly well. Edinburgh’s 199 took 150 minutes to make. The visitors finished up nine runs ahead, with four wickets intact. Dempster, Lowry and Dacre played attractive cricket. The first-named played the best cricket of the day. Dacre was the fastest scorer. He and Mills have an unfinished partnership of 85.
