DRINK, DRUGS, WORRY CAUSE MAN’S CRIME
REFORMATIVE TREATMENT SENTENCED TO TWELVE MONTHS TARINK, drugs, and domestic worry were the causes of the criminal lapse of George Nevile Carlson, who appeared for sentence at the Police Court this morning. He pleaded guilty to 12 charges of obtaining goods valued at £64 4s from W. S. Langdale, Ltd., by representing that he was a partner in the First Aid Supply Company. Chief-Detective Cummings said the goods had been pledged and sold for £26 4s 4d. Drink was the man’s great trouble. Mr. R. A. Singer, who appeared for accused, said that he had had considerable domestic and financial trouble, resorting to drugs and drink for relief. It would -probably be the best thing for him if he received a short reformative term. The magistrate, Mr. W. R. McKean, ordered Carlson to be detained for reformative purposes for 12 months.
