ORGANIST OF ST. PAUL’S
DR. W. E. THOMAS APPOINTED BRILLIANT MUSICAL CAREER It is announced that Dr. W. E. Thomas, professor of music at the Auckland University College, has accepted the position of organist and choirmaster of St. Paul's Church as successor to Mr. John Tait, who has been appointed to a similar position at Epiphanj'- Church, Newton. Dr. Thomas, who has had a brilliant career, was born in Oxford, and at the age of 17 entered Oxford University. In ISBB he obtained the Mus. Bac. degree, and in 1893 he took his Mus. Doc. degree. Dr. Thomas founded the famous Bloxhara Choral Society and later accepted the position of organist and choirmaster at St. Clement's, Bournemouth. In 1900 Dr. Thomas was appointed professor of music at Auckland University College, a position he has occupied ever since. For many years he was organist at St. Mary's, Parnell, and after a rest of a year he has again taken up church work.
