WAITOMO POWER BOARD
Mr. tV. A. Lee presided over the monthly meeting of the Waitomo Power Board, which was held at Otorohanga on Monday. A request ma.de by the board to run a telephone line on the railway poles between Otorolianga and Te Kuiti did not meet with the Railway Department’s approval. Mr. J. B. Gray is to take over the duties of electrical inspector for the board, he having been in its employ since its inception. It was decided to defer the request of the Railwa3 r Department for a reduction (from 9d) for the supply of power to the Otorohanga railway station and yards. A deputation from the Wairere Power .Board waited on the board to make overtures for the sale of electric power from Waiwere—a committee was set up to go into the question. The manager’s report for the month of May showed revenue: Light and power, £699 11s 2d; sales of material, £62 4s 6d; installations, £3OO 19s 3d; sundries, £2OO 10s; total, £1,083 4 S lid. The total number of consumers connected to the board’s supply is: Te Kuiti Borough, 687; Otorohanga Town, 149; country districts, 195 total, 1,031. These connections include 103 motors, 27 ranges, 89 water heaters, 3 pumps. The number of consumers in Otorohanga Town has exceedd the estimate by 50 per cent.
