MUSSOLINI’S ASSAILANT ITALIAN COURT’S SENTENCE By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright ROME, Sunday. THE youth Gino Lucetti has been A sentenced to 30 years’ imprisonment for the attempted assassination of Signor Mussolini. —A. and N.Z. ♦ The attempt occurred on September 11, 1926. The Prime Minister was motoring to the Chigi Palace and his car was traversing the Piazza Forta Pia, in the north-eastern portion of the city, when his assailant threw a bomb at the car. The aim of the wouldbe assassin was good, for the missile smashed the window of the car. Then it bounced to the pavement. The explosion slightly wounded four persons who were passing at the time. Signor Mussolini drove on unperturbed. Detectives who were following the Prime Minister seized Lucetti, whom the crowd attempted to lynch. Four of the police were injured in the struggle which enstied for the possession of the prisoner.
