AVONDALE’S NIGHT LIFE

SOCIALS AND DANCES POPULAR Avondale is well to the fore again with its fare of winter entertainment. Socials, dances, and “500” tournaments are popular for the passing of long winter evenings. The Ladies’ Guild have already inaugurated their winter socials, the initial one, held in St. Jude’s Parish Hall, having proved thoroughly enjoyable. Lancing, the chief attraction, was interspersed with vocal items by Mrs. Parry, and a pianoforte solo by Miss M. Erey. Games, competitions and cards were also indulged in by the happy throng. The supper was by no means the least enjoyable feature of the evening. The Rev. A. V. Grace capably presided. AVONDALE LABOUR PARTY The local branch of the Avondale Labour Party also appreciate a good cure for cold feet, and know the secret of inculcating a warm spirit into their social functions. They certainly made a name for themselves in the Avondale Town Hall. last week when they and their friends danced to first-class music on an excellent floor.. Saturday, in lieu of Wednesday, has been chosen for the holding of the “500” tournfunents in St. Mary’s Catholic Hall.
