Czecho- Slovakia’s President.—Dr. Thomas G. Masaryk has been reelected President of Czecho-Slovakia. Former War Minister Dead. —The death has occurred of General von Stein, who was German Quartermas-ter-General during - the war. and was subsequently Minister of War. Thigh Broken at Football. —ln the course of a primary school football match at Waitara, a lad named Jack McGorman broke his thigh. At Pa tea a b'w named Fowler broke his leg. Practical Sympathy. —The members of the American colony in Paris are raising a fund of one million francs for the relatives of Captain Nungosser and M. Coli, who were lost when on a flignt across the Atlantic Ocean. Fatal Jump from Burning Plane.— A military aeroplane caught fire at Paris when it was in the air. The occupants jumped out and the observer’s parachute opened and he landed safely. The pilot’s parachute failed to work, however, and he was killed. Motor-Car Taken. —Joyriders helped themselves to the motor-car of Mr. I. Knight on Saturday afternoon. It was standing outside Victoria Park when it was taken. Yesterday the car was found undamaged in Edinburgh Street. Mr. Knight resides at St. Heliers.

Chinese Charged. —Two young Cinese, Wong Koon Yee, 21, and Wilson Way, 22, were before the court this morning on charges of assaulting James Neave at St. Helier’s on May 28. They were both remanded to June 6. Destructive Australian Fires. —Fire destroyed the three upper floors of Branchflower’s furniture factory, in Little Lonsdale and Elizabeth Streets, in Melbourne, and caused damage estimated at £.20,000. A fire at Rainbow gutted six shops. The damage is estimate at £15,000. Prison for Italian Politician. —Signor di Gaspari, a former member of the Italian Parliament, and leader of the Populist Party, was arTcsted as he was attempting to leave the country with a false passport and other documents. He was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment for being in possession of forged papers. A Wonderful Season. —The wonderful season experienced is evidenced in a remarkable manner in South Wanganui, where the country presents a «pring-like appearance. There is abundance of feed, and stock looks well. The turnip crops have given prolific yields this year.

Helensville Railway Station. —The Helensville railway station and jards are being remodelled. The old station k moved back several chains, thus eliminating an inconvenient curve m the line. During the past few months several gangs of men have been engaged there, but have now been removed.

Mr. Goodfellow at Cambridge. —Dairy matters will be dealt with by Ty W. Goodfellow in an address to Jatry farmers in the Peace Memorial Hall at Cambridge on Wednesday afternoon. The address will be delivered as part of Mr. Goodfellow’s ‘‘ampaign for re-election as representative of the No. 3 ward on the Dairy Produce Board.

Arrest in Garage. —After watching i °r 13 nights, Constable Clouston aran intruder in the Opunake motor garage. Sums of money had ?* en disappearing. Later, in the Court, Norman Oliver Andrews was charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit a cr ime. He was remanded.
