Wanted His Money Buried With Him
DALMATIAN’S SUICIDE TRAGEDY AT PINE ISLAND The inquest on the body of Aute Simunovieh, who was found hanging from a tree at Pine Island yesterday afternoon was opened by the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., to-day. Arthur Eden Patterson, the master of the launch Wynon, said that he saw the Dalmation at 11 a.m. yesterday at the Pine Island wharf. At about 3.30 p.m. he found him hanging by his neck in the yard of George Banovich, the caretaker of the island. He was then quite dead. Apparently he had stood on a benzine case, end up, and then kicked it away. The deceased left a letter written in his own language, in which he expressed his intention of committing suicide. He also asked that the surn of £9 18s that he had in his possession should be buried with him. George Banovich said that he had previously known Simunovieh in Dalmatia. Deceased had come to the island to see his son, whom he had left in witness’s care until he found a home for him. Simunovich’s widow lives in Dalmatia. The coroner found that simunovieh committed suicide by hanging.
