ELECTORAL jyjAYORAL AND HARBOUR ELECTIONS. BOARD Fellow Citizens, — I desire to express my sincere thanks to you for the splendid vote recorded for me on 'Wednesday. Though defeated for the one position by a combination’ of scare, superior organisation, wet weather and apathy, the vote given me for the position of Mayor, and the fact that as a candidate for the Harbour Board I received almost the biggest vote given to any candidate that day, assures me that I still retain the confidence of my fellow citizens. As in the past I shall endeavour to merit same by advancing and safeguarding, whenever possible, the interests of the working classes, being confident that by so ..doing I shall best serve the interests of thd community as a whole. To those timid ones who were afraid to vote to give Auckland a Laboux* Mayor I would offer the suggestion that they look to Christchurch, which, having had a Labour Mayor for two years, returns him with a majority of over 10,000 votes, and increases the number of Labour Councillors from five to eleven.
