George Melford, dean of motion picture directors, has produced his first picture for Fox Films and the names surrounding the production sound like a page from “Who’s Who in the Theatre.” The picture is a screen version of “Going Crooked,” one of the biggest stage successes in recent years. It was written by Aaron Hoffman and William Collier, sen., and adapted by Keene Thompson. Bessie has the leading feminine role in “Going Crooked,” and Oscar Shaw, probably the best known leading man-comedian on Broadway, has the male lead. Gustav Von Seyffertitz plays the heavy and Edwin Kennedy has the- comedy character of “Never Wrong” Detective Doyle.
