MEETING OF COMMITTEE A meeting: of the Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Union was held last evening. Mr. Harry Frost presided. Permission was granted to the Auckland Broadcasting Co. to broadcast the description of important matches from the grounds on condition that these arrangements would meet with the approval of the union. It was advised by the Avondale Jockey Club that the whole of their grounds would be at the disposal of the union for the coming season. Mr. Mackie was accepted by the union as a third member of the Appointments Board. At present the board consists of Messrs. Grey, Potter and Mackie. Regarding the match at Ngaruawahia with some Auckland team, it was left in the hands of the Emergency Committee, which was given power to act. Mr. E. Casey was added to the list of delegates of the union to the annual meeting of the Xew Zealand ITugby Union at Wellington on May 5. The reinstatement of the following players was recommended to the New Zealand Rugby Union: —X. Watkins. J. W. Robinson. J. H. V. Mansill, M. Mansill and N. W. Loveridge. The following clubs were granted affiliation:—Penrose (third, open and fifth grade), Mount Albert (one third and one fourth grade), Hauraki (junior grade), Papatoetoe (junior grade), Greenlane (fourth and sixth grades).

LEAGUE RUGBY GAME. IN AUCKLAND CLUB MATCHES ON MAY 6 The Auckland Rugby League will make a start with its club matches on May 6. This decision was arrived at last night at a meeting of the Management Committee. Mr. W. J. llammill was in the chair. The Mangere Club wrote nominating three teams for the ensuing season, a senior, junior, and third grade team. Application was made by Messrs. B. Kennedy and A. E. Neil for reinstatement to League, the requests being granted. The committee decided to forward a letter of congratulation to Mr. A. C. Snedden. on his appointment as chairman of the New Zealand Council. TRIAL MATCH FINANCES In connection with the trial games for the selection of the team which toured England, it was shown that a loss of £203 3s resulted over the South Island fixtures, while the profits for the games in Auckland amounted to £649 11s 7d. A motion that a club delegate be given the power to appear with a junior player before the junior judicial committee was lost, the Management Committee being of the opinion that the referee should be the sole judge of fact, and his decision should not be questioned in regard to a player being ordered off the field. A notice of motion that the rate of insurance to a player who is injured while playing football be raised to £ 3 weekly will be considered at the next meeting. A letter was received from the Avondale Jockey Club stating that no grounds would be* available this season. It was decided that three selectors should be appointed for this year, the election to be held over until the 20tli inst. A meeting of those interested in the formation of a Rugby League primary schools competition will be held in the League rooms, Grey Buildings at 7.30 this evening. Election of officers resulted: Junior ~ Advisory and Judicial Committee, Messrs. Hr. F. J. Gwynee, T. O’Connell, G. Carr and F. He Vere; hon. press stewards: Messrs. Wilfred E. Simpson and W. Lusty; timekeepers, Messrs. W. J. Gibbons and A. E. Powell. The following ex-referees have been made honorary life members of the Auckland Rugby League in recognition of their services to the code: Messrs. N. Neild, J. Eddowes, F. Thompson, A. Ball and W. Murray. PRACTICE GAME TO-MORROW The City Rovers’ senior League football team will hold a practice at Carlaw Park to-morrow afternoon. The team will be chosen from the following:—J. Lewis, E. Brown.
