THEATRE BURNED TO GROUND AT WAIROA
EARLY MORNING BLAZE Press Association. WAIROA. To-day. Everybody’s Theatre, a large wooden building on the North Clyde side of the town, was totally destroyed by fire at 4 a.m. The theatre was used as a picture show and a dance hall by Mr. E. Munro. A card tournament was held last night; but everything appeared safe when the caretaker locked up shortly after midnight. The fire had a good hold and the building was doomed when the brigade arrived. Nothing was saved. Fortunately there was no wind, otherwise a large block of buildings would have gone. The building was owned by the Maloney estate. The insurances are not available at present.
