GAME IN THE SCHOOLS “Last season we made an attempt to place the primary schools on the Rugby League map,” said Mr. W. J. Hammill, chairman at last night’s meeting of the Auckland Rugby League, in ttacing efforts to develop the code in the primary schools of the Auckland district. “We met with a fair amount of success, and also a lot of opposition, but we organised the nucleus of a competition for this season. All we want is that clean sport should be played in the schools, and in sportsmanship we take second place to no one. We appealed for the establishment of the League game in the schools, and interviewed a gathering of assistant schoolmasters, who met us in a sporting Mr. Hammill told the footballers and enthusiasts present that the management would continue its efforts to foster the League code among the schoolboys.
