MAJESTIC

“THE WANING SEX” A bright and breezy programme of excellent entertainment is offered at the Majestic to-morrow. No one will grumble about the bad weather, or the coming elections, or anything else, when they have seen Norma Shearer in “The Waning Sex.” There is not a dull moment in this sparkling comedy, which guarantees to teach the latest in love-making, with fascinating Norma Shearer as teacher. A reviewer says: “ ‘The Waning Sex’ is a comedy with a snap and sparkle, an exhilaratinc-. Kftstfui r.ioture, and it even has | plot, not with an 1 artificial heaviness, i but well balanced •If and interesting. Norma Shearer has . the role of a successful woman lawyer, while Conrad Nagel, (her leading man, is cast as the" rising young district attorney, who is in love with her. She is TNorma onearer really in love with him, but she is a modern-day woman, whose independence is as precious to her as a man’s is to him, and she is a bit wary of matrimonial gestures. She agrees to marry the district attorney if he beats her in a case in which they are opposed in court. He loses, and then the “other girl” enters the case. The “other girl,” played by Mary McAlister, happens to be a shrewd little schemer, who is determined to snare him as a husband, and her wiles are not easily discounted, when they comprise a cozy cottage, a wonderful meal, cushioned couches, shaded lamps, etc., etc. It looks as if the young district attorney has been well trapped when we find him at the cottage of the other girl in most unconventional garments. But the quick wit and ready action of the heroine save the day. Side by side with the adult romance of the film marches the young love of the young sister and brother of each of the principals. There isn’t a dull second in “The Waning Sex.” This film can be safely called one of the brightest, liveliest comedy dramas that has ever reached the screen.”

On the stage, Valeska will charm her audiences with a delightful Old World dance phantasy, entitled “A Dresden Dream.” The popular fox-trot song, “In a Little Garden,” will be sung during the phantasy.
