HIS MAJESTY’S
' “ABIE’S IRISH ROSE” Henry Mortimer, who plays the rale of Rabbi Samuels in ‘Abie’s Irish Rose,” has been a well-known figure on the stage for 15 years. Mr. Mortimer was born in Toronto, Ontario, and was educated at a private scTiool in Toronto and St. Catherine’s College. Upon leaving college he chose the stage as a career and joined a stock company in Minneapolis. He later played stock engagements in Clevelcind, Washington, Providence, San Francisco, Seattle. Among other important engagements he has been associated with Mrs. Fiske in “Erstwhile Susan”; with John Barrvmore in “The Fortune Hunter”; with William Courtney in “Her Temperamental Husband”; with James K. Hackett in ‘ Macbeth,” and Elsie Ferguson in “The First Lady of the Land.” While Mr. Mortimer has never played in Australia or New Zealand, he spent two years with a repertoire company touring the Orient, playing in China, Japan, India, the Philippines, Hawaii, the Straits Settlements, aaid the Federated Malay States. During his tour he gained an experience few actors have an opportunity to ajttain, as the repertoire consisted of IS plays, and during the engagement a different play was presented each night.
