DISQUALIFIED!
League Tour Strikers “Got Their Deserts” BIG FINANCIAL LOSS (From Our Resident Correspondent. .> WELLINGTON, To-day. Mr. W. Desmond, one of the Wellington League players abroad with the New Zealand team, says that the disqualified players got what they deserved. His view of the situation, as reported by him to the New Zealand League last night, was that tf there bad been no strike and everything nad gone smoothly, the New Zealand Council would have made £B,OOO, and the team would have won 80 per cent, of the games. The team enjoyed themselves and there was no ill-feeling among the ID players; but they had to contend with disloyal players who made it hard as far as training and playing the game were concerned. The English teams played a different game to the New Zealand team. They concentrated on possession of the ball, and once the forwards got .possession the game was finished; the backs played the rest. He said: “I have no complaint to make of any kind, either with the manager or players. As far as the management was concerned it. was a bit slack in parts.”
A proposal to debar the suspended men from admission to grounds was deferred pending a report from headquarters.
