Purchasing a house among a row of others of almost exactly the same size, design and general appearance—of which there are so many monotonous rows, unfortunately, in many suburbs —is an unprofitable transaction. Without some particular advantage, such as proximity to beach, surf, or river, such a house is frequently difficult to sell later. The value of such a home is mainly regulated by the value of the rest of the row, whereas there is a greater demand and better prices offered for the distinctive, original home.
