STOLE A FUR
YOUNG WOMAN SENTENCED “TOO OLD FOR BORSTAL” “ It is rather difficult to know what to do with this girl,” said Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., when Clarice Adelaide Wynee, aged 23, appeared before him in the Magistrate’s Court this morning for sentence, on a charge of stealing a fox fur, valued at £39. from Milne and Choyce’s, and for a breach of the terms of her probation. “My first inclination was to sentence her to a month’s hard labour. She has had several chances, and has been before the court twice before for the same thing. “ Sending her up to gaol doesn t do much good. I’m going to convict her and order her to come up for sentence in 12 month's time, a condition being that she remains in the custody of the Salvation Army for the first six months. “ If she were younger I’d send her to the Borstal Institute, but she’s too old for that,” the magistrate concluded.
