Solicitor Struck From Rolls.—The Court of Appeal struck James McKenna, Patea, from the roll of solicitors, and ordered him to pay 20 guineas costs.—Press Association.

Sudden Death.—At an inquest held yesterday concerning the death of Mrs. Lloyd, who died suddenly in Waihi, a verdict was returned that death was due to heart failure.

School Girl Injured. Yesterday, Maudie Tarrant, daughter of Mr. G. Tarrant, Kihikihi, was riding to school when lier horse shied and she was thrown, breaking her leg. The injured girl was taken to the Waikato Hospital.

Te Aroha Mayoralty.—Up to the present it is known that there will be two candidates for the mayoralty at Te Aroha —Mr. R. Coulter, the present mayor, and Mr. W. C Kennedy, who is a member of the borough council.

Work for Unemployed.—Owing to the near completion of the Waihi Beach Road half the men recently placed thereon are now being taken off. Today the mayor of Waihi is wiring to the Minister of Public Works asking him to see that the unemployed are given work on the Waihi-Wliangamata Road.

Park Function Abandoned.—The open-air entertainment which was to have been given by the Royal Auckland Choir at Blandford Park on Monday evening in aid of funds of Sister Esther and the City Mission, has now been abandoned. Weather and other circumstances are the reasons given by the Rev. Jasper Calder for this decision.

Winter Time-table. The Railway Department is now arranging its winter time-table. From the end of the month the train which leaves Frankton Junction at 10.30 o’clock in the evening for Rotorua will be taken off The train which leaves Rotorua for Frankton Junction at 4.57 o’clock in the afternoon will also stop running. These trains connect with the Limited.
