Nazi Coup Feared At Danzig.
Press Association —Copyright. London, July 2. The League of Nations Council has decided to discuss the Danzig situation because of its gravity. Mr. R. A. Eden has asked Sean Lester, the League’s High Commissioner at Danzig, to go to Geneva. The Daily Mail’s Geneva correspondent says Mr. Lester has been summoned to Geneva ostensibly to explain an incident ip which the captain of the German cruiser Leipzig, which was visiting Danzig, was reported to have slighted Mr. Lester by failing to pay a courtesy call. This coincided with newspaper attacks on Mr. Lester at both Danzig and Berlin. Newspapers, however, suggest that there is a more sensational reason for the summons —fears of an imminent Nazi coup at Danzig. Large concentrations of Gorman forces are reported to be occurring on Germany’s eastern frontier. Mr. Lester’s sudden 'summons to Geneva, says the correspondent of the Manchester Guardian at Warsaw, has caused consternation in Nazi circles at Danzig, which did not expect so quick a reaction from the League to recent events in the city, which are causing alarm in Poland. The Warsaw Courier says a sudden blow at Danzig would endanger Poland’s very existence.
