Necessity For Defence Force In New Zealand.

Press Association—Copyright. Dune din, June 21. The Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, replying to the toast of "The Empire and Defence" at a reunion of volunteers yesterday, said the Government's defence policy had not yet been formulated. The Government was studying the policies of previous Governments and was agreed en the point that New Zealand must support the British Government in its efforts for world peace. Mr. Jones said he considered it the duty of the country to provide for the training of air pilots and the Government was considering .a scheme of cooperation with the Old Country in this respect. Though the Government wanted world peace, it realised it would be necessary until some of the nations regained their sanity to maintain an adequate defence force.
