NEW MINISTER.
Stratford Presbyterians
Extend Call.
REV. JOHN PATERSON, OF WANGANUI. The congregation of the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church/ St. afford, decided at a meeting last night to call the Rev. John Paterson, M.A., minister of St- Paul’s Church, Wanganui, to the Stratford Parish. Sines tlie Rev. J. McGregor left to take charge of the parish at Central Bush, Southland, three months ago, the charge has been vacant. Mr Paterson, v. ho is well known as one of the prominent public speakers of New Zealand, was born and educated in Australia. He was for a time a Don of the Melbourne University. Mr Paterson lias been at Wanganui for the past 11 years and, prior to that spent a similar period as minister of St. Andrew’s Church, Ch istehurch. Besides being one of the ablest speakers in the Presbyterian Church, Mr Paterson is a noted elocutionist and takes a p;cminent part in social work. He is. an accomplished mission preacher and conducted a mission in Stratford some years ago.
