PreoS Association —Copyright London, June 10. Jim Ferrier, the Australian champion, won Golf Illustrated's gold vase tournament of 36 holes stroke competition at Ashridge with an aggregate of 139. He broke the amateur course record with 68, compared with the previous record of 69 made by P. B. Lucas last year, and with ; an aggregate of 139 he beat the joint re- I cord of 143 by Bobby Jones and Rex Hartley. Ferrier was never troubled in the first round. He had birdie fours at the sixth | and seventh, accomplishing the remainder of the first nine in par.
