Lack Of Combination Is Stratford's Trouble. TRYING OUT NEW PLAYERS. (By "Crossbar.") Lack of proper combination is the principal weakness of the Stratford Soccer team this year, and is undoubtedly the cause of its compartively poor record in club football this year. The frequent changing of players, due to the necessity of trying out new talent, has been the main malady, and this lack of cohesion was strikingly apparent in the first spell of the match against Albion on Saturday. In the second spell of the match, however, the players seemed to settle down better and the team showed some of its best form this season. The splendid defence of the Albion goalie combined with a certain lack of dash and initiative on the part of the Stratford forwards, who seemed
to need to have the ball put right at their feet before they could get pos-
session, deprived Stratford of the exj tra goal required to win the match. I Goodman was an exception to this, and played one of the best games of the day. The three halves, Clements, Thompson and Erickson, played good football. Clements showed better form than he has done in any previous game this season, and Erickson, one of the new recruits to the club, who has shown improved form in every game, impressed as a sound player. Jackson and Henderson, the fullbacks, were very efficient on defence except that Jackson, when his partner ! was tackling, was inclined to spread I out instead of coming in to back up. j Fox in goal was in good form and ' made few mistakes. i
