Womens* Representative Hockey Matches Arranged.

Arrangements' for the forthcoming (our of Taranaki by a representative team from the Rush Association were made at a meeting of the executive of the Taranaki Women's Hockey Association at Stratford last night. Two fixtures were arranged to be played at Pihama on Wednesday, July 1, and at New Plymouth on Thursday, July 2. The teams in each case will be chosen by' the sole selector, Mr Priest, from nominations submitted by the divisional .selectors.

Women Players Dissatisfied With Refereeing System. Dissatisfaction with the prevailing conditions of refereeing at women's hockey matches was communicated to the meeting of tlhe executive of the Taranaki Women's Hockey Association held at Siratfsrd last night. The chairman, Mr 11. C. Johnson, expressed complete agreement with the complaints and members agreed on immediate action. Complaints were received from .the Kaponga and Eltham Club's that referees had failed to put in an appearance at their matches. On behalf of the New Plymouth Club, Mrs R. Eagles stated that the standard of refereeing at the New Plymouth women's matches was unsatisfactory and was adversely affecting the popularity of the sport of hockey there.

The Op.unake Club forwarded a complaint that on Wednesday lad they' had journeyed to Otakeho to play Katua only to be told by the referee that they would only be able to play a very short game. They had played only 29 minutes' and the referee had then gone on to a junior men's match.
