A sensation was caused amongst the ultra f-shionable Co vent Garden opera audience when a pretty dark-haired woman entered the stalls wearing trousers, says the Sun-Herald. Her complete dress comprised a black satin three-quarter length jacket with violet sash and pleated emerald trousers. The woman, a well known resident of Mayfair, stated that the dress was most comfortable and she hoped the starers would have the courage to emulate it.

Meanwhile a special squad of detectives was investigating reports of an acidthrowing maniac mingling with the audience and ruining the dresses of a dozen beautiful women. Two victims were members of the party which included the Eoyal Princesses Louise and Victoria.
