Bankers’ Clearing Houses Show Trade Increase.

(British Official Wireless.) Rugby, Jan. 2. Fresh indications of Britain’s growing trade are contained in the returns of the bankers’ clearing houses for 1935. These show that the amount of bills ana cheques which passcsd tAough the banks last year reached a total of £171,550,751.000. This is the highest since 1931 and represents an increase of £2,075,594,000, or 58 per cent., compared with 1934. A significant feature of the returns was that country cheque clearing figures, which are generally accepted as a reliable index of domestic trade, recorded the largest increase.
