VICAR’S WORK PRAISED

j ANGLICAN PARISHIONERS l ! j ANNUAL MEETING LAST NIGHT WELL ATTENDED. Satisfaction with the activities j of the Church during the past year j was expressed at the annual j meeting Just night of parishioni ors of Hojy Trinity Church, Stratford. Rev. K. J. McFarland presided over an attendance of 50.

| Reference to the credit bajance- | sheet was made by Mr. H. C. John- | son, people’s warden, in moving the | adoption of the annual report and I balance-sheet (published elsewhere). He commented on the large increase in general offertories and in subscriptions. The former showed an increase of £134 and the latter an increase of £37. A pleasing feature of the increase was that it was genera] and made up by increases throughout (he parish. The ladies of the parish had done good work during the year, the various guilds producing a considerable sum in revenue. Th e receipts from hire of tfte ha'i, as was to be expected, had dropped from £SO to £26, because the hall had been closed to outside dances. Despite this loss 1 of' revenue however, the debt on the building had been reduced by £2O, so that not a great deal had been lost and he was sure a lot had been gained morally _ The vicar’s incoming had used up a considerable amount of the surplus but there was a regular income to meet such expenses and the account would adjust itself. The veslry had had excellent cooperation from ed Mr. Johnson, and he had been gratified on a tour of the parish to see that the vicar was being accorded great support in the country districts.

1 j Work in Country Districts. ' ! Mr. E. H. Young, Vicar's? Warden 1 paid a .tribute to the great interest | by the vicar in the parish and j in the parishioners individually. His *. ' werk in the country districts was exI tensive and enthusiastic. Parishion- V j ers had supported the Church well | during the year and although there i was a surplus at present it would { bo consumed by expenses incurred in j painting the church and other work. *f. j Commenting on the Golden offering | Mr. Young showed that if the sum | aimed at was realised a large part j of the money raised by the Ladles’ j Guilds could be expended in chan- { ncls calculated to assist carry the | burden created by the liability of the ! large number of ijaildL'ngj) i u tho 1 parish.

| “The part of the year’s review which appeals to me most,’’ said Mr. A. Harper (Toko), “is the Vicar’s report on youth work. I think that | is probably the most important part j of our activities and the Vicar has j done good work in that direction, jHe has advanced it enormously." 1 (Applause.).

The Vicar said that great loyalty

had marked the activities of the Church during the year, the various committees co-operating with a will and to some effect. Election of Officers.
