"Prin'cr'a Error." A good story against hini.self was told by the Rev. J. A. Asher at the gathering held in his honour in St. Paul's Prosibyteriau Church, Napier. "It lias been suggested that during my retirement I should/ write a book," he said. "I have done literary work in the past, but before very long I received a communication from the editor of tlio publication to which I was contributing stating that he would be unable to accept any further articles from ine in the meantime becauso the typesetters could not read my writing. I once wrote a,n article for a publication," Mr. Asher went on. "The heading at the top of it was 'No Cross, No Crown* but when it came back from the printers it bore the heading, 'No Cows, No Croam.' "
Japanese Hospitality. High praise for the hospitality of the Japanese was paid by Mr. C. McMul'lcn, an American toiiurist, who was interviewed at Palimonston Nth. He instanced! the recent world eonfereirco of the Red Cross* in. Japan and said that while the delegates were there they were provided with free hotel accommodation) having to pay for theiii meals only. They were given every possiblo concession in other ways, and railway excursions were free. Personally, he had been entertained in several Japanese homes and a hinder people to strangers and a more courteous race he had yet to meet.
