An accident resulting in two women being killed and a child admitted to hospital with internal injuries occurred to-night on Portobello Road. The killed are:—

Esther Matilda Good, widow, aged 72, L unedln.

Annie Julian, single, aged 43, Dunedin,

The injured girl is Hilda Gray, aged S2ven years, whose parents reside at Cromwell.

The victims were all related. They were members of a party returning to Dunedin in a motor-lorry, the two vcmen occupying the front seat with the driver, Mr. John Garrick, St. Kilda.

The driver dimmed the lights of the vehicle to pass an approaching car, and iho lights failed when he tried to switch them on. The lorry plunged over a lank 12 feet high.
