VAGUE HOPE

JAPAN AND NAVAL EQUALITY DISCUSSION IN LONDON (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, Nov. 22. The attitude of the Japanese Government towards questions addressed to their delegates in London during the recent Anglo-Japanese naval conversations was further discussed this evening, when the Japanese Ambassador, Mr. Matsudaira, made a routine call on Sir John Simon at the Foreign Office. The conversation was of a friendly character, and although it was not brought in sight of a solution of the outstanding differences it is believed to have served a useful purpose. Further conversations, which will probably be prolonged, appear to be in prospect, and the feeling in informed circles in London is slightly less pessimistic.
