HAWERA TENNIS TOURNEY
Improved weather made the last day of the Hawera tennis tournament; on Saturday more enjoyable and with the finals reached the standard of play was higher. The courts were in superb order but the strong southerly wind made accurate 'play difficult. The winners of the events, with last year’s winners in parentheses, were: Men’s! Singles.—N. ITayrCampbelli (J. McCarthy). Ladies'’ iSngles.—Miss B. Griffiths (Mrs. New). Men’s Doubles. —A. and E. Dickie (Foden and Pease). Ladies’ Doubles. —Misses A and J. Hicks (Mrs. Duncan and Miss Moginie). Combined Double. — \ McCarthy and Miss J. Hicks (J. McCarthy and Mis J. Hicks) . Handicap event winners were: Men’s singles (A grade). Spratt; men’s singles (B grade), Cox; men’s doubles, Cox and Williams; ladies’ singles. Miss I. Reid; ladies’ doubles, Misse Dickie and Gibbs; combined doubles Cox and Miss Alexander. B. Clifford.Jonos won the boys’ singles and Miss M. Dickie the girls’. Gibson won the schoolboys’ singles and A. Marsh the girls’.
