Reviewing' the year’s sport, Sporting Life says that championship trophies in games show a tendency to develop into mere gladiatorial contests. The sooner the old British ideal of sport for its own sake can be recaptured in the international arorta the bettor for the world at large. The bodyline controversy assumed such unwarranted importance as to be ludicrous. No other series of events demonstrated with such clarity How mischievous international sport may prove in relationships of friendly nations, unless we are determined to get back to sane standards.
