West End Theatre DEMONSTRATION AGAINST GERMAN ACTOR Police Action Required London, Sept. 2*. Extraordinary scenes were witnessed at the "first night" of Gerhardt Hauptniaim's play, "Before Sunset," at the Shaftsbury Theatre when the famous German actor, Werner Krauss, made his first appearance in the West End of London. The demonstrators meanwhile shouted: "Down with Hitler! We won't let Krauss appear; we want British actors!" The demonstrations continued until the police were called in. and ejected the demonstrators, some of whom were carried struggling from Che gallery. Misses Joyce Bland and Peggy Ashcroft. who hud to bear the brunt of the earlier disorders, were later cordially applauded.
