To be Made Into Museum r

Napoleon’s residence at Longwood du ring his exile in St. Helena is shortly to be transformed into a museum. The French Foreign Office has authorised the Society of Friends cf St. Helena to, restore the houses near Napoleon’s residence, which were occupied by flourgaud, Las Cases and Monthoio a, the three generals who went into exile with him in 1815.

When this work is completed t.he curator of Napoleon’s residence, who is at present living in the house itself, will be able to move into one of the adjoining buildings. The preparation of the museum can then he started.

Napoleon 111. sent an engineer, Captain Masselin, to the island to restore the houses at Longwood. But only the c>mperor’s residence was touched, the others apparently having been overlooked.
