LEAGUE PARK IN CHRISTCHURCH

Handing Over to City Council ART UNION PROPOSED Press Association. —Gopyrlght. Christchurch. Sept. 11. The trustees of Monica Park, formerly the headquarters of League football at Christchurch, have offered to hand over the ground, which consists of 281 acres, to the city provided the trustees can by an art union raise sufficient to clear the land of encumbrances. These amount to a total of £II,OOO. When the proposal was before the City Council to-night Cr. Archer protested against any scheme fostering gambling. He found only two supporters, however, and the council by 12 votes to 3 agreed to accept the offer and support the request for an art union.
