So much have the congregation of the Rugby Street Methodist Church suffered at the hands of thieves while they have been attending church that pickets have been appointed to keep guard every Sunday evening. The position became serious last year when motorists had many complaints of petrol and other goods being stolen, and lately there have been further reports of thefts.
Several coats and hats havo be n n taen from the porch hilew,k& p taken from the porch, while'a kit of tools, gloves and some petrol have been reported' stolen from parked cars. An appeal for pickets was made from the pulpit recently, and with this safeguard there have been i;o further complaints lately.
