Six were killed and ; many wounded in lighting in the pro- I vinces. The strike failed in Barcelona and was i only partly successful in Madrid. The Government's promptitude in arresting j hundreds of suspects, including twelve j staff officers, last night prevented the j staging of a coup de'etat. Twenty bomb explosions occurred in j the course of the day. Electric cables ; and water mains were damaged. Many \ rioters were arrested. j
