In the May Day procession at Northampton the Independent Labour Party displayed a tableau representing a boy of twelve crucified on a huge gijt cross with the words, "Sacrificed to Capital," emblazoned beneath. The police intervened and threatened to stop the continuance of the procession unless the disgusting and revolting crucifixion were removed. The band obeyed, but the Independent Labour Party complain that the police exceeded their duty'. It was not their job to bow to the religious complex.
