DIFFICULTY OF COLLECTION POSITION BECOMING DESPERATE CONFERENCE AT WAIROA Press Associate. —Copvright. Wairoa, Today." Arising out of a lengthy discission at the harbour board meeting this morning, when the serious position concerning outstanding rates was gone into fully, it was decided that a conference of delegates of all local rating bodies between Woodville and East Cape be held at Wairoa on June 10 for the purpose of arriving at a uniform line of action in conneciton with the levyinq and recovering of outstanding rates. It was claimed the position was becoming desperate, the proposer of the resolution stating that he was sure it was only required to make a move in the matter to receive the unanimous support of the whole of the local bodies in New Zealand. It is anticipated the conference will be largely attended, and a strong case prepared to ™it before tho Government concerning" fhe subject. The board further decided to forward the Minister in charge of State Advances a list of rates outstanding on Crown lands and requesting the amount be credited to the loan account owing by the board to the department.
