The Stratford Evening Post With which is Incorporated "THE EGMONT SETTLER" (Established 1890.) TUESDAY, MAY 9, 1933 Delegation to London

A SUGGESTION has been put forth in several quarters, including this journal, that the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Hon. R. Masters, should go to England with other Ministers to attend the World Economic Conference. It is to be hoped that the suggestion will be given effect to for, apart from Mr. Masters' value to the delegation, he would render most useful service to the Dominion by thoroughly investigating the British markets for New Zealand produce. As we have pointed out previously, our selling organisation in the Old Country needs a thorough overhaul. It is well known that New Zealand produce cannot be procured in many parts of the Old Country, and in many other parts there is little demand for it because the people do not know anything about it. It would probably be necessary for Mr. Masters to remain in the United Kingdom for some time after the other members of the delegation returned, but any inconvenience caused by his absence from New Zealand would surely be counterbalanced by the value of a good marketing organisation in the Old Country. The man needed for the job is the practical man, who knows business methods, and how to sell his goods. 1 here is no one in Cabinet more fitted than Mr. Masters for that task, and it' is essential he be given it.

The cold snap which has recently come upon us should rcnrnd us that Stratford's winter climate, even for happily placed people, is a rigorous one, and what must be the suffering of those who are insufficiently clad and fed, and who cannot afford sufficient firing. Many who a short time ago were prosperous are now out of work through no fault of their own. It is up to everyone who can to give a little help 'to those who so sorely need it to-day. . ... .
