ARRANGEMENTS FOR SALE

A meeting of the Stratford Jersey Cat tie Club was held on Saturday afternoon, Mr. 11. J. Kayo presiding. Also present were: Messrs. C. Cleniow, G. Bell, D. O'Sullivan, J. Browning, \V. Johnson, O. McAloon. E. Bennett, S. Gadsby and the secretary, Mr. W. P. Ross. *

Clcmow were appointed to interview auctioneering firms at Stratford with a view to fixing a date for the holding of a club female Jersey sale towards the end of July. Entries of cattle volunteered at the meeting by members were encouraging and were sufficient to ensure the nucleus of an attractive catalogue.

Subsequent to advice from Messrs Kirton Bros., Kohttratahi, to Hie el feet that circumstances would pre vent their farm being used as a ventu for a Jersey demonstration, the meet ing decided to defer the Kohiirr demonstration until next year, k

hers expressed regret that their expected visit to the back country would not eventuate this year. Financial Position .

The financial position as explained by the secretary disclosed that the club held £44 13s Gd in the bank, of which £3O 6s was due to the Futurity Stakes fund, leaving a credit balance of £H 7s 6d. Accounts to pass totalled £7 9s. Thus the club would have barely £7 to its credit. In presenting the statement the secretary explained that a great many subscriptions were still outstanding and efforts were being made to collect the money. There were several weeks before the annual meeting during which it was hoped to get in the bulk of outstanding subscriptions. Successful Field Day

The success of the last field tiny and demonstration hold on Mr. E. Bennett's farm at Cardiff was referred to. Annual Smoke Concert Owing to the difficult, times, said the chairman, it had been practically decided to dispense with the annual smoke concert, "However," he continued, "my attention has been drawn to the'fact that one of our oldest and keenest members, Mr. J. T. Belcher, intends to hold a sale during the season and I am personally inclined to favour holding an evening on the night prior to the sale as a compliment to Mr. Belcher and his association with the club," said the chair-

man. Members agreed to the proposal, and it was decided to arrange the evening hut on a less elaborate scale than was the case last year and with certain safeguards against, loss. Mrs. Gadsby was asked to convene a meeting of a ladies committee consisting of Mesdames Browning, Johnson, Bennett Bell Mander. McAloon, Yandle and Hunt.'with power to add, to make further arrangements. Mr. Gadsby agreed to act as general supervisor.
