INFORMATION REFUSED

Petrol Prices Inquiry

OIL COMPANIES OBJECT

Press Association. —Copyright

Melbourne, April 22.—Challenging ihe validity of the Royal Commissions Act, officers of three major oil companies refuse to produce the information which is being requested by the Royal Commission on petrol prices. The inquiry adjourned, the chairman of the commission announcing that the next step would probably be the prosecution of one of the refusers to test the point at Sydney. It is understood here that the Federal Government will probably secure the cooperation of the State Governments, thus giving the Royal Commission full powers cf inquiry on all points except evidence concerning certain oversea questions.
