STRANGE POWER

V/ATER DIVINER'S EFFORTS

Recovery of Drowned Bodies

CO-OPERATION WITH POLICE

Press Association —Copyright Reed. Today, 9.15 a.m.

London, April 23—Mr. John Clarke, the Leicestershire farmer water diviner, at the request of the police, located four drowned bodies in the past fortnight with a piece of copper wire and a hazel

twig. He rolls the wire around each arm and smears his fingers with a blue liquid, which is his own secret preparation. Then follows vigorous twitches of the twig. He says: "If I handle something belonging to the missing person, I am able to locate him or her blindfolded."

Tho liquid, in conjunction with the wire, acts as a magnet. When he locates the body he receives an electric shock. Mr. Clarke was invited by the Edinburgh and Glasgow Universities to submit to a physical examination to disclose the secret of his mysterious power.
