An apology for absence was tendered on behalf of the president, Dr. Fookes, of New Plymouth, who acknowledged with pleasure his election to ttie position. A communication from the New Zealand Rugby Union notified a change in the date of the annual meeting of the union from May 4 to May 11 on account of the municipal elections.

The Waikato Rugby Union wrote asking, if it was possible to stage a Tainnaki-Waikato match on June 3.

The chairman pointed out that the Taranaki-Wanganui match was a standing fixture for June 3 and it was v 'solved on his motion that the suggestion be declined with regret. Taranaki-Rotorua Maori Match

A communication from Opunake. written on behalf of Taranaki Maori players, stated that the team owed the Arawa tribe (Rotorua)* and requested permission to play the match at New Plymouth on June 3. It was pointed out that the game would not interfere with the Taranaki-Wanganui Maori matafa later in the season.

Some di*eu'ssion ensued, and special reference was made of the question of gate, money and expenses. It was resolved that no action be taken until the opinion of the Wangaui Union has been secured in view of the fact that the match at New Plymouth would concern that union in connection with the pool fund. University Team Tour

Advice was received that the proposed New Zealand university team's tour was tentatively postponed until 1934. on account of the visit of the Australian touring team. An expression of opinion was sought, in regard to the alternative proposals that (a) the New Zealand team tour the whole of the Dominion rn one season, with four matches in the'South Island and three in the North Island or (b) that the islands be tourer! in different seasons, the North Island to be toured first, and seven matches to bn played. "These chaps play good football," said the chairman. "They are experts and we could do nothing better than put on a u'niveritys match." » The secretary was instructed to continue negotiations in connection with the proposal, the latter alternative being favoured and authority was given for arrangements for a visit to be finalised, with an agreement to meet expenses of the ream from the conclusion of the match just prior to and after the Taranaki game. Players Reinstated

Reinstatement of the following players from senior to first junior was granted: C. Plumtree, J. Scoblo (on tho application of New Plymouth Old Boys), D. Bonner (Toko Club), Pat Collins (Stratford Club), R. Adams, P. IvlcTagget, W. Zimmerman, Rangi Hurunui (Patea Club), E. Christiansen (Inglewood Club), C. S. Allen (Tukapa Club), H. The Tarannki Primary Schools' Rugby Union applied for the usual grant of £SO to enable the season's programme to be carried out. Permission was also sought to piay the annual north v. south representative game as a curtain-raiser to the Tara-naki-Wellington match at Hawersi during winter show week. The chairman said that certain provisions had been made in the will of the late Mr. P. J. Flannagan for an annual su'm to be devoted to primary school representative football, but as yet the matter had not been finalised owing to a slight complication. The grants of the union, however, would have to be kept down this year. The application was deferred in the meantime to allow a request to be made for a grant from a special fund in Wellington which, it was understood, would possibly entertain such a request. An assurance was given, however, that the union would grant the Primary Schools' Union the necessary amount. The second application was also deferred. Applications were received for permission to play the following matches to-day (Saturday): Waitara v. New Plymouth Old Boys, Tukapa v. Star (annual Dan O'Brien Cup match). The applications were granted. Insurance Fund The Inglewood Club wrote expressing the opinion that the union's insurance scheme should cover players in the Schneider Cup competition games in view of the fact that the players were members of the Inglewood Club. The insurance sub-committee wai( deputed to bring down a report at tho next meeting. Massage Treatment Abused A communication containing quotations for medical treatment during the season drew forth some comment. Mr. Hickey expressed the opinion that the privilege of massage treatment had been abused to a large extent.

Mr. Moyes said his objection was that cou'ntry players paid into the fund largely to the benefit of town players who sought massage treatment on very light injuries. It was resolved on the nution of Mr. Hickey that the insurance levy remain the same —two shillings—and that massage treatment be eliminated from the benefits of the *\;hcrae. Aji application from, the l:;g'lewood Club at the instigation of \h" Tariki Club for a change in tho southern boundary extending its territory was not granted.,. touch' rule should be reverted to and that any necessary steps should be taken with this object in view, provided the controlling body or bodies of Rugby football in Australia take similar stops." The Wanganui Union. —"That a new office, namely, that of president-elect of tho N.Z.R.U. be created." The union's delegato was given a free hand in regard to both proposals.
