C. j E, Macmillan, in a statement is- ! sued to-night outlined the steps j being taken to bring about an improvement in the quality of cheese. He explained what had been deI cided upon by the committee of I representatives of dairying interj ests.
j It was realised, the Minister said, that ! much had been done to bring New Zeaj land cheese up to the proper standard lof quality. The committee's decision
] really represented the adoption of the re- ! commendations made in the first place i by the Dairy Board as follows:
(1) That regulations be gazetted to prevent a supplier from leaving one factory for another.
(2) The definite establishment of milk grading with differential payment. (3) Licensing of factory managers. (4) The Dairy Division to take over a cheese factory as requested by the board. At a meeting of the committee a cable from the High Commissioner was read stating that this season's cheese showed an improvement. The Minister added that the departmental staff was now pushing matters forward with a view to having everything in order for commencing the new season under the improved conditions which had been agreed upon.
